Delete Your Account

Last updated 10 September 2026Applies to the Xpensa app and website

You can delete your Xpensa account at any time, directly from the app. This page explains how to do it, what is removed when you do, and what to expect afterwards, so you can decide with full information before you continue. Xpensa is operated by Multi Code Genius.

01

Before You Begin

Account deletion is permanent
Deleting your account permanently removes your profile and the records in it. It takes effect straight away, it cannot be undone, and we cannot restore your data afterwards — not even if you ask us to or sign up again with the same email address.

If you would like to keep a copy of your records, export them first. In the app, go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Export my data. Xpensa generates a PDF summary of your accounts and transactions that you can save or share before you delete anything.

02

How to Delete Your Account

Account deletion is handled entirely within the Xpensa mobile app, so you stay in control of the whole process:

  1. 1Open Xpensa and sign in.
  2. 2Go to Settings, then open Privacy & Security.
  3. 3Scroll down and tap Delete account.
  4. 4Read the summary, then type DELETE to confirm and tap Next.
  5. 5Enter your 4-digit PIN to authorise the deletion, then tap Delete permanently.
Navigation path
Settings → Privacy & Security → Delete account

Your account is deleted as soon as your PIN is verified. You are signed out immediately and returned to the welcome screen, and any other device you were signed in on is signed out too.

03

What Is Deleted

Deletion is immediate and permanent. Your account record is removed, and everything stored against it is removed with it.

Deleted with your account
  • Your profile — name, email address, phone number, and the identifier from Apple or Google if you used one of those sign-in methods.
  • Your financial records — accounts, balances, transactions, categories, notes, budgets, goals, debts, trips, recurring schedules, and savings challenges.
  • The transactions created from any bank statements you imported.
  • Your shared, group, and household expense records, including balances and recorded settlements.
  • Your Xpensa AI chat history.
  • Your sign-in sessions, PIN, and any biometric or passkey credentials registered to you.
  • Your encryption key material, including your wrapped data key and recovery codes.
  • Your notification token and in-app notifications.
Kept briefly, or by law
  • Operational server logs — records such as the time of a request and error diagnostics — are kept for a limited period for security and troubleshooting, then removed in the ordinary course.
  • Limited records may be retained only where we are required to keep them to meet legal, tax, accounting, or fraud-prevention obligations, and only for as long as applicable law requires.
  • Anything retained is kept solely for those purposes — never for marketing, advertising, or profiling.
Statement and receipt files are never stored
The bank statement PDFs you upload and the receipt images you scan are processed in memory and are not written to our servers, so there are no files to delete. Only the transactions extracted from them are saved to your account, and those are removed when your account is deleted.
04

Shared Expenses & Households

Groups, trips, and the people you added to them exist only inside your own account, so they are deleted along with everything else.

Households work differently, because other people are involved. If you are a member of someone else's household, deleting your account removes you from it, along with the settlements recorded between you and the other members. If you are the owner of a household, deleting your account removes that household for everyone in it. If other members want to keep their shared history, give them a chance to record what they need before you delete your account.

05

After Deletion

  • You are signed out everywhere, and the app returns to the welcome screen.
  • Your data is gone and cannot be restored by us or recovered with your password or recovery key.
  • You are free to create a new Xpensa account later using the same email address, but it will start empty — nothing from your previous account carries over.
  • Deleting your Xpensa account does not affect your bank accounts or anything held by your bank. Xpensa never connects to them.
