Terms & Conditions

Last updated 10 September 2026Applies to the Xpensa app and website

These Terms & Conditions (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of Xpensa, the personal finance and account management mobile application and website (together, the “Services”) provided by Multi Code Genius (“Multi Code Genius”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). By creating an account or using the Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. Please read them carefully.

01

Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Services, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) and that you accept these Terms. If you are using the Services on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information and forms part of these Terms. If you do not agree with these Terms or the Privacy Policy, you must not access or use the Services.

02

Who We Are

Multi Code Genius is the company behind Xpensa. Xpensa is a product operated and provided by Multi Code Genius, and Multi Code Genius is the party you are contracting with under these Terms.

In these Terms, “Xpensa” refers to the application and website, while “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to Multi Code Genius as the operator of those Services.

03

The Services

Xpensa is a personal finance and account management tool. It lets you record income and expenses, keep track of accounts and balances, review and organise your credit and debit transactions and transaction history, set budgets, plan goals and savings challenges, track debts and recurring payments, scan receipts, record shared and household expenses, and view reports, forecasts, and insights drawn from the records in your account. You can also upload supported bank statements so the transactions they contain are read and organised for you.

The Xpensa website provides information about the product and hosts these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and our account deletion page. Accounts and the features described above are provided through the Xpensa mobile application.

What Xpensa is not
Xpensa is not a bank, payment service, lender, broker, or financial institution, and it is not regulated as one. It does not connect to your bank accounts, and it never holds, receives, transfers, or moves money on your behalf. Features such as settlements, round-ups, and debt tracking record what you tell them for your own reference — recording a settlement or a payment in Xpensa does not make or settle a real payment.
Not financial advice
Xpensa is an informational and organisational tool. Any categorisations, summaries, reports, forecasts, health scores, recommendations, or AI-generated answers it provides are for your general information only and do not constitute financial, investment, banking, tax, accounting, or legal advice. You remain solely responsible for your own financial decisions, and you should seek advice from a qualified professional where appropriate.
04

Eligibility & Your Account

To use the Services you must create an account. You can register with your name and email address, or sign in using Apple or Google. You may also set an app PIN and enable biometric unlock or a passkey on a device that supports it. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information when registering and keep it up to date.
  • Keep your password, PIN, recovery key, and devices secure, and not share them with anyone.
  • Take responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • Notify us promptly at contact@multicodegenius.com if you suspect any unauthorised use of your account.

You may hold one account for your own personal, non-commercial use. You must not create an account on someone else's behalf or use another person's account.

05

Your Password & Recovery Key

Sensitive financial fields in Xpensa are encrypted on your device before they are sent to us, using a key derived from your password. When you set up encryption, the app shows you a recovery key. Your password and that recovery key are the only two ways to unlock your encrypted data.

We cannot recover your data for you
Because we do not hold your password or your recovery key, we cannot reset them, and we cannot decrypt your encrypted records on your behalf. If you lose both your password and your recovery key, your encrypted data cannot be recovered by us or by anyone else. Storing your recovery key somewhere safe is your responsibility, and we are not liable for data that becomes inaccessible because it was lost.
06

Bank Statement Imports

Xpensa lets you upload a bank statement in PDF form so the entries it contains can be turned into records in your account. If the file is password-protected, you supply the password so the file can be opened during the import. You must only upload statements for accounts that belong to you, or that you are otherwise authorised to upload.

Statement imports are supported only for the banks listed in our Privacy Policy. Those banks are named only to identify statement formats Xpensa can read — they are not partners, affiliates, sponsors, or endorsers of Xpensa or Multi Code Genius, and we have no relationship with your bank or your bank account.

Review what gets imported
Statements are read automatically, and automated processing may not always be complete or accurate — amounts, dates, descriptions, balances, and categories can be misread, missed, or duplicated. You are responsible for reviewing imported transactions and correcting them in the app. Your bank's own statement remains the authoritative record of your account.
07

Your Content

You retain all rights to the records, statements, receipts, and other content you add to Xpensa. We claim no ownership over your content. You grant us only the limited permission needed to store, process, and display that content in order to operate the Services for you, as described in our Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for the content you add, including information about other people that you enter — such as the names of people you record shared expenses with. You confirm that you have the right to provide that information and to have it processed through the Services.

08

Shared Expenses, Groups & Households

Xpensa lets you split expenses and track balances with other people. Groups, trips, and the people you add to them are labels you create for your own records — those people are not given access to your account. A household is different: you invite someone by the email address on their existing Xpensa account, and they must accept the invitation before they join.

When you share a household with someone, shared expense entries, the balances calculated from them, and settlements recorded between members are visible to the members of that household. Only add people you intend to share that information with, and remember that balances and settlements recorded in Xpensa are a record between you — they are not a payment, and they do not create or discharge any legal debt.

09

AI Features & Cloud Assist

Some Xpensa features use AI to read a receipt, suggest a category, import a statement, or answer questions about your spending. These features are grouped under Cloud Assist, which is switched off by default and runs only for a limited consent window that you turn on and can turn off at any time. How Cloud Assist handles your data is described in our Privacy Policy.

AI output can be wrong
AI-generated categories, extractions, summaries, and answers are produced automatically and may be incomplete, inaccurate, or misleading. Do not rely on them as a statement of fact about your finances or as a basis for a financial decision without checking them against your own records.

The AI assistant is intended for questions about your own financial records in Xpensa, and it will decline questions outside that scope. Reasonable usage limits apply so the feature stays available to everyone; you will see a message in the app if you reach one. You must not use these features to attempt to extract another user's data, to bypass the limits, or to generate unlawful or abusive content.

10

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Services for any unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful purpose.
  • Upload statements, receipts, or data that you do not have the right to upload.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Services, other users' accounts or data, or our systems.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Services, or place an unreasonable load on them, including through automated access, scraping, or circumventing usage limits.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Services, except to the extent permitted by law.
  • Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Services without our prior written consent.
11

Service Availability & Changes

We aim to keep the Services available and working well, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Services may be unavailable from time to time because of maintenance, updates, technical problems, or factors outside our control, including issues affecting the third-party providers we depend on.

We may add, change, or remove features as Xpensa develops. Where a change materially reduces functionality you rely on, we will give notice within the app or by email where it is reasonable to do so. Keeping a current version of the app installed may be necessary for the Services to work correctly.

12

Fees

Xpensa is currently provided free of charge. If we introduce paid features in future, we will make the price, billing cycle, and renewal terms clear before you are charged, and you will never be charged without agreeing to them first. Any purchase made through the Apple App Store or Google Play will also be subject to that store's billing, cancellation, and refund policies.

13

Third-Party Services

The Services depend on third-party providers, including cloud hosting and database providers, the AI provider used for Cloud Assist features, the push-notification service, the Apple and Google sign-in services, and the app stores that distribute the app. These providers operate under their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their content, policies, or practices.

14

Intellectual Property

The Services, including all software, designs, text, graphics, and branding, are owned by Multi Code Genius and its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Services for your personal, non-commercial use. No other rights are granted, and all rights not expressly granted are reserved.

15

Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Services are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure, that statement imports, categorisations, calculations, forecasts, or AI output will be accurate or complete, or that the Services will meet your particular requirements.

Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under consumer protection law that cannot be excluded or restricted by agreement.

16

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Multi Code Genius shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, savings, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of, or inability to use, the Services — including any financial decision you make in reliance on information presented in Xpensa.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Services or these Terms shall not exceed the total amount you have paid us for the Services in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.

17

Termination & Account Closure

You may stop using the Services at any time, and you can delete your account from within the app at Settings → Privacy & Security → Delete Account. Deleting your account is permanent and cannot be undone, so export anything you want to keep before you begin.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, or where it is reasonably necessary to protect the Services, other users, or to comply with the law. Upon termination, the licence granted to you ends and you must stop using the Services. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law — will continue to apply.

For the full account deletion process and what is removed, see the Delete Account page.

18

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you within the app or by email. Your continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised Terms.

19

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. You agree that the competent courts located in India shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services.
